Drawing on 40 years in aviation, 20 of which were spent as Training Captain for a large European regional carrier, I am accustomed to the safety management environment. I have served in safety roles, and have learned the value of an SMS system in preventing accidents before they happen.

Simon has over 40 years of aviation experience, including over 20 years airline flying. He has flown Shorts SD360, BAe Jetstream 32, Fokker F27 and BAe 146 aircraft in Europe, and the Cessna 208B in New Zealand.

He has also served as Base Captain, Line Training Captain, and Quality Assurance Manager in large UK airlines. He has been a simulator instructor in De Havilland Trident IIIc, BAe 146, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 737-300, A320 and ATR72 simulators.

Simon also holds a Flight Service Specialist qualification.

When not flying, he can be found in the workshop fixing classic cars, motorcycles, and the occasional kitchen appliance. He also plays bass guitar in various bands.
